To the editor:

As a long-time member of and donor to the Berkshire Museum, I have read the torrent of letters concerning its future. The truth is that if the museum can't sell the pictures, it will close. This is a fact.

Does anyone want the museum to stand empty with a big "For Sale" sign on it? I hope the answer is "no," and that people will calm down and realize the consequences of this disagreement. We can live without the pictures. Can we live without the museum?
