The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services will honor state Rep. William "Smitty" Pignatelli and Dr. Jennifer Michaels at its annual UNICO dinner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Berkshire Hills Country Club, 500 Benedict Road.
Michaels has been at the Brien Center for 23 years and has served as medical director since 2007. While she is stepping away from that role, she will continue on as medical director of Adult and Family Services - one of the agency's four divisions. She has been a crusader for those living with addiction and has worked to educate the community about the stigma that prevents people from getting help they need.
Pignatelli is a longtime Brien Center partner, friend and advocate who was instrumental in securing more addiction recovery beds in the Berkshires through constant advocacy at the Statehouse in Boston.
Tickets are $50. The event is open to the public; however, advance reservations are appreciated.
