J. Peter Bergman is directing "Invitation to a March" at Ghent Playhouse.

GHENT, N.Y. – Director J. Peter Bergman saw playwright Arthur Laurents’ “Invitation to a March” on Broadway in January 1961, about one month before the show ended a brief, 113-performance run. He was 14.

“I fell in love with it from the second balcony of the Music Box Theatre,” Bergman said 62 years later in a backstage room at Ghent Playhouse, where his production of Laurents’ play begins its three-weekend run Friday, Feb.
