LENOX — “Letters, when well written, can be beacons into the concerns, joys, tragedies, indeed the very souls of the correspondents, and no other form of expression feels quite the same,” playwright Ken Ludwig writes in an afterword to his two-character epistolary romance, “Dear Jack, Dear Louise.”

The play, which runs May 26 through July 30 in Shakespeare & Company’s outdoor Roman Garden Theatre, is an unabashed love story tracing the relationship between U.S.
