'Espejos: Clean,' Kate Abbruzzese and Emma Ramos play estranged sisters reunited by a wedding.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Sarah, one of the two compelling characters in Christine Quintana’s intriguing bilingual drama “Espejos: Clean,” is a train wreck waiting to happen.

The play, which is being given a vibrant, highly theatrical, if at times overwhelming, production at Hartford Stage, is set in a resort in Cancun; the kind of posh retreat for tourists of means who want to go to Mexico “without ever really going to Mexico,” Sarah says at one point.
