HARTFORD, Conn. — The Rembrandt in playwright Jessica Dickey’s muddle of a play, “The Rembrandt” at TheaterWorks Hartford, is the Dutch painter’s 1653 masterpiece “Aristotle with a Bust of Homer.”

Commissioned by Don Antonio Ruffo, a rich Sicilian art collector, the oil on canvas depicts the Greek philosopher Aristotle — clothed in wealthy garb of Rembrandt's time — resting his right hand on a bust of Greek poet Homer.
