Kardashian West faces shapewear backlash
Kim Kardashian West has received backlash on social media from people who object to what they say is appropriation of the traditional Japanese kimono in the name of her upcoming shapewear line.
The reality star, makeup mogul and budding lawyer announced the line, Kimono Solutionwear, on Tuesday. The line will come in a range of sizes and colors she showed off on Instagram.
Some Japanese critics on social media said the name, which West trademarked, is an inappropriate take on centuries-old kimono clothing.
There was no word on when the line would go on sale. West said it's "coming soon." An email request for comment to West's spokeswoman was not immediately returned Wednesday.
The kimono has evolved to a style of formal dress worn for special occasions, including weddings, funerals and tea ceremonies.
New Whitney Houston remix released
You can dance to a new-ish Whitney Houston song.
Houston originally released a cover of Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" as a Japan-only bonus track on her 1990 album "I'm Your Baby Tonight," but the song has been given an upbeat, dance remix by Norwegian DJ-producer Kygo.
The new version of "Higher Love" was released digitally on Friday. Winwood's original version was released in 1986 and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Kygo, best known for his Top 10 hit "It Ain't Me" with Selena Gomez, will perform the new "Higher Love" at the PrideFestival Utopia on Sunday in New York City.
Houston died at the age of 48 in 2012.
South Korea's 'Song-Song' couple divorcing
South Korean superstar couple Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo are seeking a divorce to end their celebrity marriage of less than two years.
Dubbed as "Song-Song couple," both have huge followings across Asia and elsewhere. They married in October 2017 after falling in love while co-starring in the mega-hit TV drama, "Descendants of the Sun." They are one of the highest-profile star couples in South Korea's entertainment world.
A law firm representing Song Joong-ki confirmed that he was taking legal steps to divorce actress Song Hye-kyo.
The 33-year-old actor offered an apology to his fans because he had to deliver "not good news," according to the Seoul-based Lee & Ko law firm.
Song Joong-ki said he won't disclose details about why he and 37-year-old Song Hye-kyo want to end their marriage. He said both want to end their divorce proceedings smoothly rather than blame each other.
