PITTSFIELD — The Gladys Allen Brigham Center of Pittsfield, and the Avangrid Foundation in partnership with Berkshire Gas Co. will continue to support the Girls Inc. Eureka! program, according to Brigham Center CEO Kelly Marion.The Girls Inc. Eureka! program brings girls in the Berkshires an opportunity to explore STEM-related subjects through intensive hands-on programming for five years. The first program cohort was launched in July 2018 with 14 girls entering eighth grade. They immersed themselves in a four-week summer experience studying a range of STEM subjects including physics, biology and environmental science with area professors from Berkshire Community College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The second program will take place this summer. A second cohort will be added to this year's program. Eureka! is a research-based and evaluated program designed by the national Girls Inc. organization.
