WESTWOOD  — The state's average gas price has risen 1 cent from last week, to $2.93 for a gallon of self-serve regular, according to AAA Northeast.

The average price is 9 cents higher than a month ago and 92 cents higher than on June 7, 2020. The state's average gas price is 12 cents below the national average.

The national average has risen 1 cent this week, to $3.05, which is 10 cents higher than a month ago and $1.03 higher than at this time last year.

“Since April, we’ve seen a steady rise in demand for gasoline with more people commuting to the office and taking to the roads for vacation. This increasing demand and decreasing supply, combined with higher crude oil prices, mean pump prices are likely to fluctuate throughout June,” said AAA Northeast spokeswoman Mary Maguire.
