Defense for man accused of killing Dennis Bernardi in Clarksburg asks for urgency in addressing question of client's mental competency

Dennis Bernardi was found dead in his home at 175 Middle Road in Clarksburg on Feb. 23, 2022. 

PITTSFIELD — A question lies at the heart of a homicide that struck the community of Clarksburg last year. Is the man accused of killing Dennis Bernardi fit to stand trial?

A doctor is evaluating the available evidence and will develop his own opinion as to whether the state can prosecute William Gingerich Jr.
