A 'good Samaritan' saw smoke coming from a North Street apartment building and alerted residents and the fire department

Pittsfield firefighters responded to a fire Sunday morning at 1223 North St., the site of a two-family apartment building. The blaze was contained to one room on the second floor and put out within 30 minutes. 

PITTSFIELD — A structure fire at a two-family apartment building on North Street drew response from Pittsfield firefighters Sunday morning, with no injuries reported.

The fire department responded to 1223 North St. at 7:30 a.m. after receiving a call from a passerby who saw smoke coming from the building’s roof line.
