Fire crews work to ensure that the fire at the Olde Forge Restaurant on Aug. 28 is fully out. A former employee allegedly admitted to police that he set the fire.

PITTSFIELD — A former employee of the Olde Forge Restaurant used lit cigarettes to set a fire in August that shuttered the popular restaurant for several weeks, according to a state police report.

That conclusion was reached not long after first responders were called to fight the flames on Aug.
