The Environment Committee of the Berkshire Women's Action Group will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in front of the Town Hall to dedicate the installation of three new water refill stations.

Major donors Karen W. Smith, Dr. Sidney and Wendy Kleinman, and Bob and Nyna Malley will be acknowledged.

The refill stations located in front of the Town Hall, Mason Library and the Housatonic Community Center were installed in late 2019 but were closed due to the pandemic. They are now open and dispensing water.

The town will annually shut off the water around Nov. 1, and reopen in mid-April.

The water stations are part of a larger effort to encourage residents and visitors to carry water in refillable bottles, thus avoiding the use of plastic bottled water. In addition, 40 merchants and eateries displaying a "GBonTap" sticker on their door will refill water bottles upon request.
