To the editor:
Even Fox News confirmed the commander in chief's comments about "losers" and "suckers" in the armed forces. This is just another example of President Donald Trump's continuing degradation of our nation's heroes, both past and present. And speaking of heroes, let's not forget the families and friends of those who supported those who serve and served our country, so we can enjoy the freedoms we have.
We proudly served 53 years in an Army uniform and another 18 as federal employees in support of our military and veterans. We never ask for special treatment and still find it humbling when someone thanks us for our service.
At the same time, we respect the right to choose one's political party and candidate. This is what makes America great; however, when the "leader" of the free world continues his attacks on our heroes, the decision for Election Day should be clear. If you are a veteran, still serving, or a friend or family of a hero, voting for Trump is condoning his behavior.
The thought of voting for Biden may be a nonstarter, and we can respect that. We are not saying you have to vote for Biden — just don't vote for Trump. Write in someone who is worthy to represent the Republican Party. We can all respect that.
