Mexico Chiapas Rebellion 1994

Residents of the town of Ocosingo, Mexico, carry a civilian woman after she was wounded, Jan. 4, 1994. The dead still litter the streets of this little south Mexican town and vultures circle over the cornfields on its edge. Some of the worst fighting in Mexico's New Year uprising raged in Ocosingo, keeping people holed up inside for three days. Only Tuesday did they begin to emerge, despite the occasional continued shooting. (AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes)
