Morewood, the Gilded Age mansion at 575 South St. in Pittsfield that's on the National Register of Historic Places, is on the market.

The home with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, located next to the Pittsfield Country Club, is on 11 acres.

The mansion recently was restored to "museum quality," according to its listing with Cindy Welch of Landvest Inc. The property, for sale for $1,995,000, is being marketed as a residential home or commercial-nonprofit venture, such as a cultural center, wellness/spa facility or as a golf and dinner club.

At 10,287 square feet, the Tudor-style brick mansion features grand gardens around a center fountain, a carriage bar, garage, horse stalls and chicken house.
