During Friday and Saturday's frigid temperatures, First United Methodist Church opened its doors and kitchen for those in need of a break from the cold, and the shelter at the former St. Joseph's High School stayed open 24 hours each day. Warming centers at the Berkshire Athenaeum and the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center were also available.
