Pittsfield Police are investigating a two-vehicle wreck Monday at East and Newell streets. A Pittsfield biker, Stanley Dipietro, was killed in the crash, authorities said.

PITTSFIELD — A Pittsfield man was killed Monday morning, after his motorcycle collided head-on with an SUV at East and Newell streets, according to a statement released by the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.

Stanley Dipietro, 65, was heading east on East Street about 10:54 a.m., on a 2013 Harley-Davidson, when he entered the intersection with Newell and struck a 2002 Honda CRV that was turning onto Newell from the westbound lane, according to a preliminary investigation.

Dipietro was taken by Action Ambulance to Berkshire Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver of the CRV, Susan Shepardson, and her passenger, Bruce Shepardson, 86, also were taken to BMC, with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.

East Street was closed to through traffic by Belanger Park and Newell Street, the city posted on its Facebook page Monday.

Pittsfield Police are investigating the collision, the statement said. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the actions of either vehicle, is urged to contact Officer David Hallas at 413-448-9700, ext. 560.
