PITTSFIELD — Police say a motorcycle rider was taken Friday night to Berkshire Medical Center with serious injuries after a crash on First Street.

In a tweet, Lt. Jeffrey Bradford said the operator, who was not identified, did not appear to have suffered life-threatening injuries, according to.

The accident tied up traffic on the downtown block near Cumberland Farms around 8:30 p.m. Motorists were advised to find other routes by police away from the junction of First Street and Maplewood Avenue.

Video posted to Twitter by the department showed the motorcycle burning after the crash. Another photo showed damage to the vehicle, amid a hefty response by the police and fire departments.
