George Ferris, who died Friday from injuries suffered in a head-on collision, was a barber at Man's World Styling Salon on Marshall Street in downtown North Adams. 

NORTH ADAMS — A local barber has died from injuries suffered in a head-on collision Friday on Curran Highway. 

George Ferris, 82, died Friday after being transported to Berkshire Medical Center's North Campus, according to Andrew McKeever, spokesman for the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.

The accident occurred on Curran Highway just north of Hodges Cross Road. Ferris' vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Ann Meier, 60, of Adams. Meier was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and later transferred to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Further information about the crash was not immediately available. "The North Adams Police Department’s investigation is ongoing," McKeever wrote in an email. 

Ferris was a barber at the Man's World Styling Salon on Marshall Street in downtown North Adams.
