Because of the coronavirus pandemic, trick-or-treating will look much different this year.

GREAT BARRINGTON — Trick-or-treating will be allowed this year, but the town is asking residents and their children to follow a handful of guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Trick-or-treating will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 Oct. 31, and is for town and Housatonic Village residents only. Trick-or-treaters should wear a COVID-complaint mask and keep a safe distance from others. The town is also asking families to stay in their neighborhood and limit the number of homes they visit.

Parental supervision is required for younger children, and trick-or-treaters should only visit homes that have porch or exterior lights on. Residents who wish to not participate should turn off their porch light.

Residents participating should limit interactions as much as possible and use gloves, tongs or create a grab-and-go station. Everyone taking part in trick-or-treating should also sanitize their hands frequently.
