Williams College's Haystack Monument has been vandalized.

WILLIAMSTOWN — A historically controversial sculpture on Williams College’s campus celebrating missionaries was tagged with graffiti over the weekend. Included in the graffiti was the phrase “Hail Satan.”

“Just after Saturday midnight, a Campus Safety officer, responding to a report, found that the Haystack Monument in Mission Park had been defaced with spray-painted graffiti,” College President Maud Mandel wrote to faculty, staff and students Monday evening.
