To the editor: If you will forgive the ramblings of a retired English teacher, there used to be a word to describe the incitement and participation of an armed insurrection against one's lawful government.
That word is treason, and its participants were traitors.
That is exactly the crime of Robert E. Lee and Donald Trump, who are near equals in my point of view. But no one will use this word, perhaps because we all know what used to be the penalty for treason.
