Police seek suspect in armed robbery at Cumberland Farms in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD — Police are searching for a man who robbed the Cumberland Farms store on First Street early Sunday.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., a man walked into the store and brandished what is believed to be a knife or screwdriver, demanded money, and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to a statement released Monday afternoon by Pittsfield Police. No injuries were reported.

The man left the store and ran southbound on First Street toward The Common. Police said images of the suspect were captured by the store's video surveillance system and will be released later.

The suspect, believed to be a white or Hispanic male with some facial hair, was wearing a tan or beige coat, gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white sneakers, police said. He is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a medium build, and he appeared to be in his 30s.
