Cheshire annual town meeting voters on Monday night approved an overall budget of $7,072,712 for fiscal 2023.
Lanesborough taxpayers are facing a 31 cent hike in the property tax rate for fiscal 2023. The increase could have been higher if not for the Mount Greylock Regional School district lowering its assessment increase to the town by $100,000. Lanesborough overall budget is projected at $10.4 million for the fiscal year starting July 1.
"We need to do this for the sake of our town and our tax dollars," Chief Deanna Strout told residents at town meeting. By leaving Civil Service, she said, Dalton will save money and choose from applicants who want to make law enforcement careers in the Berkshires.
