The Toys For Tots campaign in Berkshire County is in the homestretch, with hundreds of people donating new, unwrapped toys at drop boxes stationed at 150 locations throughout the county. Berkshire coordinator Christopher Keegan says the need has tripled in the seven years he has overseen the holiday charity. The toy drive lasts through Christmas Eve.

The Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction was not made aware that a man who died by suicide at the jail on Sunday had previously attempted suicide, Sheriff Thomas Bowler said.

After a 17-year battle with substance use disorder, Stavri Yanka, of Adams, died by suicide Sunday at the county jail. Family members remember him as someone eager to help others, despite the challenges he faced.
