WILLIAMSTOWN — Teams that are ranked in the top five in any basketball poll don’t get there just on offense.
Williams scored 23 points in the first half and made only seven shots, but the fifth-ranked Ephs held 19th-ranked RPI to just 17 in the opening 20 minutes and continued that stout defensive play in the second half as Williams rolled to a 58-40 win Tuesday night in Chandler Gym.
