Howard Herman is a sports columnist at The Berkshire Eagle. The dean of full-time sportswriters in Western Mass., he has been with the Eagle since 1988, and is a member of the New England Baseball and Basketball Hall of Fame.
It was quite a fall sports season in the Berkshires, with a postseason that included both Mount Greylock soccer teams reaching the state Elite Eight.
By the time some of you read this, the high school sports season in Berkshire County will be over.
The MIAA state cross-country championships were set to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Fort Devens. The Mount Greylock volleyball team was ready for its state championship appearance at 5:30 p.m.
