Berkshire Lacrosse Club competes in Connecticut
A middle school team out of the Berkshire Lacrosse Club traveled to the Fall Lax Jam in Connecticut last weekend.
Berkshire left East Windsor, Conn. with an 0-2-1 weekend, that included a thrilling 5-5 draw with Lax Plus in the opener.
Berkshire totaled 14 goals over three games, led offensively by Tessa Baldwin, Ella Kroboth and Dakota Casella. On the back end was Maddie Rawling and Annette Boyko holding down the defense, while Hannah Kickery controlled play in net.
Berkshire was beaten by Gold Coast, 7-3, and Laxachusetts, 15-6 to finish out.
Valley Storm softball
The Valley Storm softball team raced to a doubleheader sweep in Western MA Fall Ball action.
Donning pink jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Valley felt good defeating Ware 29-4 and 24-7 in a pair of blowouts. The team is donating a dollar per strikeout for the month of October to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Bri Lynch took the victory from the circle in the opener, punching out five batters in four innings of work. Hannah Gilbert took over and struck out another four in her pair of relief innings. Lynch did it with the bat as well, racking up three hits and four RBI. Addie Loomis tripled and drove in four runs, while Skyler Steele and Anna Bucala each had two hits and four RBI, as well. Maggie Potter and Margarette Howland had two-hit games, while Amelia Pierce made her one basehit count, driving in four runs.
Lilly Ross earned the win in the second game, overpowering Ware for nine K’s in five innings. Howland finished things off from there. Ross added three hits and three RBI, while Loomis had two hits and two RBI. Kylee Gamache homered, Delaney Fifield tripled, and Gilbert doubled as one of her two hits. Mya Schattin drove in a run as well.
Lee Sportsmen’s Club
The Lee Sportsmen’s Club and Berkshire Action Shooters are hosting an event on Oct. 18.
There will be three stages and two classifier stages, wit the safety briefing starting at 9:45 a.m., and the event at 10. Cold range rules apply.
The round count is 117. Entry is $20, with exact payment necessary. Face coverings are mandatory when social distancing isn’t an option. Leesportsmens.com has more information.
Basketball officials wanted
The International Associated of Approved Basketball Officials Board No. 25 has announced fall classes and an exam for those interested in officiating high school basketball.
IAABO University is available to anyone interested, and classes will be held virtually in October, with an online exam in November.
