Taconic boys win state basketball title, hanging on to beat David Prouty in Lowell

LOWELL — Winning state championships aren’t supposed to be easy. If they were, there might be many more banners hanging in the Taconic High School gymnasium.

Saturday afternoon at the Tsongas Center, Taconic was held to four points in the fourth quarter and everyone in the gym held their collective breaths when David Prouty’s Cam Hoekstra launched a 3-point shot just as the buzzer sounded.
