Taconic boys, Wahconah girls look to make history this weekend by winning state basketball titles

Jarmal Sistrunk dodges both Ryan McLaughlin and Nolan Currier of Maynard on a bucket for Taconic.

One team has a shared state championship due to a pandemic-interrupted state tournament. The other team hasn’t been in a state title game since 2002.

This weekend will give the Taconic boys and Wahconah girls an opportunity to win outright their first-ever state championships.

It’s championship weekend in Massachusetts. Twenty teams will play in 10 games this weekend for Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association championships at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.
