An updated story on Jake Hescock is available here.

Pittsfield native Jake Hescock passed away Sunday, according to Facebook posts by family and friends.

Hescock, who graduated from Salisbury School in Connecticut before playing college football at the University of Wisconsin and University of Central Florida, was out for a jog Tuesday in Boston when he suffered cardiac arrest.

According to posts, another civilian found him and was able to get him resuscitated and he was taken to the hospital where he was put in the intensive care unit.

In an update to a post on the Facebook page Jake Hescock #88 UCF Football Fans, Lisa Walz Mlynarczyk wrote “It is with a heavy heart that I have to say my cousin Jake has passed on, may he Rest in Peace and forever shine his bright soul down upon us, I’m sure Papa was there waiting for you with open arms….. forever you will be, Lil Jakers!”

Hescock graduated from UCF in the spring after playing 12 games for the Golden Knights in the fall of 2021 as a tight end.

In January, Hescock told The Eagle he was working on his second bachelors degree in Finance, having already earned a degree in Integrated Business. Per that story, he was looking into a possible career in medical equipment sales and possibly coaching football.

The Eagle will have more on Hescock’s passing later in the week.
