Williamstown's Chris Conroy promoted to umpire crew chief by Major League Baseball

Umpire Chris Conroy keeps an eye on the play between Red Sox first baseman Mitch Moreland and Kansas City Royals’ Whit Merrifield at Fenway Park in 2018. Conroy, one of MLB's newest crew chiefs, says he's not certain when or if his crew will be at Fenway Park in 2023.

Chris Conroy says it's hard to wrap his arms around the fact that after a decade as a fulltime Major League Baseball umpire, he has become a crew chief.

"Very much so," said Conroy. "Sort of, in my own mind, I still consider myself one of the younger guys on the staff.
