Summer Baseball: Ex-Suns player Joel Lara will be a Futures League All-Star captain, and will draft his team

Runner is congratulated by his team

Joel Lara (19) spent the 2021 season with the Pittsfield Suns. New Britain's Lara, who has stolen 39 bases this year to tie a Futures League record, is one of the captains for the Futures League All-Star Game. He and Vermont reliever George Goldstein will draft teams for the July 26 game.

PITTSFIELD — Joel Lara won’t make any promises, but one of the two Futures League All-Star Game captains might try to put his old band back together.

“Hopefully, I can do that,” he said. “The team we had [in Pittsfield] was something special. Hopefully, we can get those guys back together.”
