Thought for the day

“If you believe that life is worth living, then your belief will create the fact.” — ARTHUR MILLER (1915-2005)

The Greeting

Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019

Hey ho, Berkshires! Are you all in one piece? I was doing some late night Eagling on the web (very different than late night ogling), and the house shook from the so-called bomb-cyclone as it traveled over the Ashfield bureau. Our weather tracker Clarence Fanto was hot on the trail of the nor'easter and delivered this report on the fallout (click here for the the outlook).

In other news, Pittsfield Police officers did some quick work in tracking down a suspect in the blaze that destroyed A-Mart on North Street on Tuesday night.

Jason McCandless, superintendent of the Pittsfield Public Schools, is seeking employment elsewhere.

Great Barrington will mark 50 years of respect for the W.E.B. Du Bois Boyhood Homesite.

A second Southern Berkshire school district employee is calling foul, coming forth with accusations that school staff are belittling and short-changing special needs student; in one instance, a teacher called a student "retarded."

These are solid news stories. I should know, because I'm a grizzled news veteran. If you love the news, too, then help keep us going. Please renew or subscribe to The Berkshire Eagle today.

Very best,

Noah Hoffenberg
