The Greeting

Tuesday, March 12, 2019

Good day, sunshines! March is marching onward,  and we should be warming more and more every day.  The leafing, flowering and greening should be happening by June, once the ice melts.

Speaking of green, this edition of TheBeat includes a column by Thomas Christopher, who helps clue us in as to when the earth has dried enough for plantings.

A Lanesborough man who had been arrested on his fifth operating while under the influence charge has been sentenced to jail and rehab.

A strike is on the table, and Stop & Shop and its employees union will continue with talks this week.

And in case you hadn't noticed, there are potholes everywhere. In Pittsfield, the mayor issues a call for patience as the city road crew gets to work on repairs.

And please don't forget to read these other fine stories:

ASSAULT ON A PREGNANT WOMAN: A North Adams man will spend a year behind bars after assaulting a woman who was fourth months with child.

MORE DETAILS IN WEEKEND SHOOTING: Court documents reveal some of the scenario behind the gunfire that erupted on two Pittsfield streets on Saturday.

FAN OF GLAMPING?: It's like camping, but with all the amenities and comforts of home. Neighbors of a new proposal for Greylock Glen want to know more before the are gets filled with glampsites.

Very best,

Noah Hoffenberg,
Berkshire Eagle online editor

P.S. Don't forget to renew or subscribe today. Eagle journalists Ben, Haven and Larry are counting on it, so they can help tell the stories of Berkshire County.
