Ring in the holiday season in North Adams

Celebrate the holiday season with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in downtown North Adams at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. The rain date will be Friday, Dec. 6. Residents are asked to gather from the tree at Monument Square on Main Street (between the First Congregational Church and First Baptist Church North Adams) to count down the seconds until the switch is thrown and thousands of twinkling lights adorn the downtown. As soon as Main Street lights up the Drury High School Band and Band Front will lead the way with festive songs for the North Adams Fire Department's fire engine as it makes its way through downtown with Santa Claus. Santa and his helpers will bring gifts for the first 500 children.

Grab a train ride with Santa

Enjoy a 1950s Christmas train ride with a visit from Santa aboard the Tinseliner Train. The trip includes a layover at the PopCares Tree Lot to pick a tree for pick up later. Also, enjoy hot cocoa and roasted marshmallows. Proceeds benefit PopCares organization. Trains depart from the Adams Station, 3 Hoosac St., Adams. for tickets, visit www.berkshiretrains.org. Dates and times are: Friday, Nov. 29, noon to 1 p.m., 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 30-Dec. 22, noon to 1 p.m., 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Rock into the holiday spirit

Kick start the holiday season with a rockin', soulful holiday concert for all ages. Rev Tor & Friends return to the Colonial Theatre stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov.  29 for a night of musical merriment, Rev Tor & Friend's Rock & Soul Holiday Show. The evening will feature performances by renowned vocalist Wanda Houston, along with local favorites Gina Coleman, Tony Lee Thomas and more. There will be a special appearance by the Berkshire Theatre Group Youth Choir, as well as a few other holiday surprises. Brian Benlien will provide pre-show entertainment at 6:30 p.m. at The Garage.
