3 Mount Washington fires deemed suspicious by authorities

MOUNT WASHINGTON — Authorities are investigating three fires that occurred early Sunday morning as suspicious.

Three houses were found burning on West Road. Two were owned by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and one was privately owned.

The two DCR properties, including a historical home, were destroyed. Authorities suspect the fires are connected and they are considered suspicious, according to a news release from the state Department of Fire Services. The investigation is ongoing by the Egremont Fire Department and State Police both assigned the State Fire Marshal's office and the Berkshire District Attorney's office.
