Calling all Star Wars lovers! Time to dust off your costumes and head over to the Berkshire Athenaeum in Pittsfield on Saturday, May 4, from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate all things Star Wars. There will be games, crafts, refreshments, a costume contest and much more at this free event. Come dressed as your favorite hero or villain for a chance to win prizes. Enjoy a jam-packed First Fridays Artswalk
Enjoy a pleasant spring night and enjoy good artwork at The First Fridays Artswalk. The Artswalk this Friday, will feature 18 art exhibitions, opening receptions and special ArtWeek activities throughout downtown Pittsfield, including open studios, live demonstrations, scavenger hunt, and community-wide interactive art-making. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.; and there will be a free guided tour beginning at 5 p.m. at the Intermodal Center @ BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave. There will also be an Artswalk Scavenger Hunt for specific artworks throughout the downtown with prizes donated by local businesses awarded to youth, 19 and younger. Make art and get paid in ice cream
Come to SoCo Creamery from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 2 for a Change Playground artist-led event with Gabrielle Senza, "Stories, Smiles, Art & Ice Cream" in celebration of ArtWeek. Share your favorite ice cream memories, sit for a funny mustache portrait and make a drawing to exchange for a scoop of your favorite flavor. An exhibition of ice cream-inspired drawings and paintings by Senza is on display at the shop during May. Small mixed media works from the artist's "30 Days of Ice Cream" series feature colorful ice cream cones and playful abstractions, as well as portraits from her days as "The Ice Cream Lady" when she drove an ice cream truck. The event is free and open to the public; limited space available. SoCo Creamery is at 5 Railroad St., Great Barrington.
Toast to cultural season with UpCountry
Enjoy a night of food and wine tastings to officially kick off the Berkshire cultural season. UpCountry Wine, Food & Spirits Celebration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield. Your ticket includes bites from some of the Berkshires' finest food artisans and wine and spirits to sip while Berkshire Jazz Collective (Featuring Andy Wrba) plays in the background. You will also receive a Signature UpCountry Magazine Wine Glass, Wine Lanyard and tote bag. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to Kids 4 Harmony.
