Good morning, Berkshires. Fall is in the air. Not so much that we need to put away our shorts for the season, but it's getting close.

In today's top news

Bigg Daddy's, which not long ago heralded the coming of the Philly cheesesteak to Pittsfield, is closing

A call came in to Pittsfield Police about kids trying to shoot each other with BB guns on the Common, but they didn't find any evidence of such activity.

Fire struck a home in Cheshire on Thursday, and residents escaped injury.

Also in Cheshire, the Select Board welcomed its two newest members, and assigned roles and responsibilities.

The driver who hit a skateboarder in a Great Barrington crosswalk will not face any charges.

And a lack of basic procedural documents has closed the case against a retired Pittsfield Police officer who allegedly used excessive force during a 2016 shoplifting arrest.
