American Institute for Economic Research names new president


GREAT BARRINGTON — Edward P. Stringham has been named president of the American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, and will also serve as the organization's director of research and education, according to an announcement by AIER's board of trustees.

The appointment was effective May 24.Stringham previously served as the K.W. Davis Professor of Economic Organizations and Innovation at Trinity College in Connecticut. He also serves as editor of the Journal of Private Enterprise and is past president of the Society for the Development of Austrian Economics and the Association of Private Enterprise Education.

The author of three books, the Brookline native has also taught at Texas Tech University, Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, Klagenfurt University in Austria and San Jose State University. He holds a bachelor's degree from College of the Holy Cross and a doctorate from George Mason University.
