An idea or two for date night

If you're looking for a great date night idea, don't worry, there's always something fun to do in the Berkshires.


Summer is winding down and with it Capitol Steps' season at Cranwell Spa. If you haven't taken the time to catch a performance this summer, you're almost out of chances. "Orange is the New Barack" final performances are tonuight and Friday at 8 p.m., $49, 55 Lee Road, Lenox.

A cappella lovers should plan on visiting the Norman Rockwell Museum for a performance by Quintessential, a Berkshire-based group featuring Al Thorp, Jay Wise, Jim McMenamy, Steve Dahlin and David Anderegg. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., enjoy covers of The Kinks, Lou Reed, John Lennon and more. Admission is $20; the museum is located at 9 Glendale Road, Stockbridge.


Fans of American folk-rock band The Avett Brothers, grab your tickets now for what's sure to be an amazing show at Tanglewood. The group that brought us the Grammy-nominated albums "The Carpenter" and "True Sadness" perform at the Koussevitzky Music Shed, 7 p.m. Tickets are $39-$89. Friday night is the last of the summer dance parties with DJ BFG at Fuel Bistro in Great Barrington. This is a 21 and older show, beginning at 9:30 p.m. $5 cover, 293 Main St., Great Barrington.


Mac-Haydn Theatre's popular end-of-season Cabaret event featuring the 2017 company will be held Saturday at noon, at 1925 NY-203, Chatham, N.Y.. Go out for brunch before the show or catch a late lunch after and make Saturday afternoon your "date night." Tickets are $40, available at

The Guthrie Center's Troubadour Series comes to a close this weekend. If you've missed this season of shows, or just want a chance to see another, tickets for Guy Davis' performance are available at The doors open Saturday at 6 p.m., the show begins at 8 p.m., 2 Van Deusenville Road, Great Barrington.

Billy Wilder performs at Mission Bar + Tapas, 438 North St., Pittsfield, Saturday at 8 p.m. If you're looking for a place to grab some good food, a beer and some live entertainment, this is the event for you.


The final performance of Christopher K. Morgan's P haku, "an evening-length solo dance performance incorporating choreographer Christopher Morgan's personal story into the larger story of Hawaii's native people," is Sunday at 8 p.m. at PS21 Tickets are $35; available at PS21 is located at 2980 Route 66, Chatham, N.Y.

Country music fans should plan on heading to the Columbia County Fair in Chatham, N.Y. Sunday evening at 7 for a performance by Travis Tritt. Admission to the fair is $15 and includes this performance, so get there early, catch a ride on the Ferris wheel or pick up your favorite fried food and head to the bandstand for a real summer evening's date night.

If you're in Stockbridge Tuesday night, head on over and catch a performance by Tom Carroll at 8 p.m. According to their website, you'll be treated to "an energetic blend of acoustic music from yesterday and today, plus originals." The Red Lion Inn is located at 30 Main St., Stockbridge.


Wednesday night is open mic night. Don't miss out on a chance to impress at The Egremont Barn in South Egremont at 7 p.m., The Lion's Den at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge at 8 p.m., and at Fuel Bistro in Great Barrington, 6:30 p.m. No matter where you are in the Berkshires, there's a chance for you to sing and serenade.
