As Berkshire Museum seeks restoration of grant, other area groups in good standing


As the Massachusetts Cultural Council prepares to decide whether to restore funding to the Berkshire Museum, these area groups remain in good standing. In all, 22 other Berkshire County organizations received the following amounts in the fiscal year that runs through June.

The county's Cultural Investment Portfolio awards totaled $415,100. In all, $4,270,000 in such grants were disbursed statewide.

Aston Magna Foundation for Music & HUM, Great Barrington: $3,800

Barrington Stage Company, Pittsfield: $29,600

Berkshire Choral International, Sheffield: $16,400

Berkshire Historical Society, Pittsfield: $3,800

Berkshire Music School, Pittsfield: $6,100

Berkshire Theatre Group, Stockbridge: $28,100

Center for EcoTechnology Inc., Pittsfield: $43,500

Chesterwood Museum and Estate, Stockbridge: $7,300

Other funding

In a different Gateway grant program, WAM Theatre Inc. of Lee and Edith Wharton Restoration Inc. of Lenox each received $3,000.

And in a project round of funding, Berkshire Playwrights Inc. of Great Barrington, Berkshire Pulse Inc. of Great Barrington and the Cantilena Chamber Choir of Lenox each received $2,500.
