Barrington Stage streaming 'Three Viewings' reading with Debra Jo Rupp
PITTSFIELD — Barrington Stage Company will be streaming a reading of Jeffrey Hatcher's "Three Viewings," beginning 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23. The reading will be available for viewing for a limited period of 96 hours only through 7:29 p.m. Sept. 27.
Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith, co-stars of the Fox sitcom, "That '70s Show," which ran eight seasons from August 1998 through May 2006, reunite for this virtual reading. Joining Rupp and Smith is Angel Desai. Julianne Boyd is directing.
"Three Viewings" comprises three monologues, all set in the same funeral home in a small midwestern town.
"Tell-Tale" is about a mild-mannered undertaker (played by Smith) whose hidden passion for a local real-estate woman who comes to all his funerals leads him down a dark path. "The Thief of Tears" is about a Los Angeles drifter (Desai) who makes her living stealing jewelry from corpses and returns to her hometown to claim from her dead grandmother a diamond ring she had been promised when she was a child. In "Thirteen Things About Ed Carpoletti," a widow (Rupp) discovers that her wheeler-dealer husband, a contractor, has left her deeply in debt to the bank, her family and the mob.
Access to the show is available with a donation of $25 or more. A link to view the reading will be sent within 24 hours of the event. The last time to donate and receive the link is 5 p.m. Sept. 27. The video will be taken down at 7:29 p.m. Sept. 27.
