Good afternoon, foodie friends.

Well, if your house is anything like mine right now (covered in bits of wrapping paper, "Paw Patrol" cars everywhere to step on and a wired 3-year-old asking to watch “Land Before Time” “one more time, mommy!”), food is probably the last thing on your mind.

But consider this, put another jolly ol’ elf in your family on clean-up duty (did I hear someone say “daddy”?) and whip up a cup of hot cocoa that is just right for the Christmas afterglow. When visiting family starts howling for dinner and all you’ve got is some leftover pizza from your last-minute shopping trip last weekend, try this leftover pizza quiche.

Or, you could just skip that post-holiday menu and go straight to the good stuff: New Year’s Eve cocktails. If you’re hosting a party, wow your guests with your Champagne knowledge, and be sure to give them plenty to eat.

I’ll be ringing in the New Year like most parents with toddlers: sipping some of my favorite wines, eating too many chips and dips and going to bed by 10 p.m. Because 2019 or not, my kid will be up at 6:35 a.m. “Can we watch 'Land Before Time,' mommy?”
