Berkshire All Stars Gala just a week away

Let the countdown begin! Are you in?

We’re one week away from the first Berkshire All Star Awards Gala, The Eagle’s June 27 celebration honoring Berkshire County’s top high school athletes and coaches.

Our keynote speaker and special guest is Heidi Voelker, the three-time Olympic alpine skier and Pittsfield native who is an inspiration for her accomplishments on the world stage and in life in general.

Let me say that I’ve been hearing about what the night’s going to be like, and I’m impressed: The atmosphere is shaping up to be spectacular; the food is tasting really good to me right now; and we have a few surprise announcements we’ll be making at the All Stars gala, too. (What those are, well, you’ll just have to wait and see).

As you’ve no doubt been following since March, The Eagle has been announcing outstanding athletes and coaches in each sport from among our 11 high schools: Lee, Lenox, Mount Everett, Monument Mountain, Pittsfield, Taconic, Wahconah, Hoosac Valley, Mount Greylock, Drury and McCann Tech. And we’re looking forward to celebrating their achievements on stage with Voelker, who will hand out the awards to our winning athletes and coaches.

By this Friday, we will have finished announcing our honorees online and in the newspaper. To review the list of honorees already announced, and for more information on the gala, visiting www.berkshireeagle.com/2018berkshireallstars.html.

Kevin Moran is the editor of The Eagle.
