Berkshire County sports notes: Lee CTA hosting annual US Open bus trip


U.S. Open bus trip

The Lee Community Tennis Association is planning its 22nd annual U.S. Open bus trip on Wednesday, Aug. 29.

The trip will bring spectators down to the Bille Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. in an air-conditioned bus. The bus departs the Big Y parking lot in Lee at 7:15 a.m. with stops in Stockbridge, Great Barrington and Egremont.

The bus will leave New York at 7 p.m., with an expected return to Lee at 10.

An extra hour has been added to the trip this year to account for late-day matches.

The cost is $125 per adult (discounts for Lee CTA members), $100 for children 18-and-under, and $62.50 for Lee CTA children.

Imperial Bowl fall leagues

Imperial Bowl is accepting registrations for the fall candlepin leagues.

Springfield Tennis Club Senior Classic

The first annual Springfield Tennis Club Senior Classic will be held on August 16-19 at Forest Park in Springfield.

The USTA-sanctioned tournament will have men's and women's 45 through 75 singles and doubles divisions, plus 55 and 65 mixed doubles divisions. Prize money will be awarded.

Players of all levels are encouraged to enter.

20th annual Monument Cup

The 20th annual 3 vs. 3 youth soccer tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Monument Mountain Regional High School.

The tournament is for youth players in the U10, U12 and U14 age groups, with divisions for both boys and girls.

All teams (3-4 players) are guaranteed at least three matches, with the top 4 teams in each division advancing to the semifinals. The finals for each division will be played under the lights.

The entry fee is $80 before Aug. 15, and $100 per team if submitted after. Each division is limited to 16 teams.

BART Cross-Country fundraiser

The 2018 BART cross-country team is hosting a bottle drive to try and raise the funds needed to afford a bus to the State Charter School Invitational on Columbus Day.

The team will be hosting the bottle drive at Adams Redemption Center at 56 Commercial St., Adams, on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lenox Fall Soccer Registration

Lenox Youth Soccer, in conjunction with Black Rock FC, will begin its league on Sept. 8 this year, running through Oct. 27. The cost to register is $45 per play until July 28, and rises to $60 after that. Deadline to register is Friday.
