Astion Memorial One-Club Invitational Tournament

Chuck Diskavich defeated John Sanderson on the second playoff hole to win the 13th Astion Memorial One-Club Invitational Tournament at Stockbridge Golf Club.

Diskavich two-putted on the hole to beat Sanderson last Sunday. The win was Diskavich's second, making him the third multiple-time winner of the event.

Diskavich qualified for the playoff with a 7-foot par put on the final hole. Club President Dan Holmes also qualified for the playoff holes.

The One-Club was started in 2003 by several Stockbridge members, including the late Doug Astion. Astion, known for wearing bright colors not normally associated with traditional golf apparel, died in 2009, and the event was named for him.

Sixteen players teed off this year, using just one golf club — typically a mid-iron, between 5 and 8 — and as many golf balls as they could carry.

The trophy was presented by last year's champion, Todd LePine, to Diskavich at St. Joseph's cemetery, in front of Astion's gravesite. The golfers enjoyed pizza — another nod to Astion — and had cookies made by Astion's widow, Donna.
