Berkshire nonprofits to be honored at State House

BOSTON — Berkshire Immigrant Center and Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires are among 27 nonprofits from across the state that will be honored Monday on Nonprofit Awareness Day for being named as finalists for the Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The ceremony will take place at the State House in Boston.

Both organizations are finalists in two separate categories: Berkshire Immigrant Center for small nonprofit; and Volunteers in Medicine Berkshires for innovation. Four nonprofit organizations and two nonprofit professionals will be announced as category winners.

House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo and Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Rosalin Acosta will also join more than 250 local nonprofit and business leaders at the event. Networking takes place from 9:30 to 10 a.m. followed by the speaking program from 10 to noon.
