BIFF selects 'South Mountain' for Triplex Cinema screening

GREAT BARRINGTON — "South Mountain," a new indie drama from filmmaker Hilary Brougher, will be shown 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Triplex Cinema. Doors open at 10.

The screening is part of Berkshire International Film Festival's winter series "BIFF Selects," which highlights international and domestic narrative and documentary films throughout the year.

"South Mountain" stars Talia Balsam and Columbia County (N.Y.) resident Scott Cohen as a woman named Lila and her husband Edgar who have found fragile tranquility in the Catskill mountain home they share with their teen daughters.

Soon after the girls leave for summer adventures, Edgar reveals the birth of a child with another woman leaving Lila to a season of explosive loss and reconfiguration. As Lila's world overturns, those who count on her likewise come undone.

Brougher will lead a Q&A following the screening.
